Who We Are
Big Foot Heating & Cooling Services
In 2007, Charles Fife decided he wanted to stop working for someone else and start his own company. He created CRF Mechanical to raise the standard for heating and cooling services in Victor, Driggs, and the surrounding area. This venture ended up being more successful than he anticipated, so in 2015, he hired his first employee and by the end of the year renamed the company Big Foot Heating & Cooling. As the company has grown, Charles’s commitment to providing high-quality HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation to home and business owners has remained unchanged.

Our Services
Furnace Repair & Installation
It can be stressful and even dangerous to be without heat during winter. If your system has broken down, you can trust our team to make the necessary repairs or install a new reliable unit, keeping you comfortable all season long.
Ductless Mini Split
Whether you need supplemental heating in a basement, a guest suite, or an add-on, ductless mini-split can keep you warm and comfortable throughout the season without the need for ductwork. Customize this system to your exact preferences.
Heat Pumps
It may be called a heat pump, but it can also help efficiently cool your home. It absorbs heat from your inside and transfers it outside to keep your home comfortable throughout hot, summer days.
Boilers
If you want a more dependable way to keep your home warm during freezing temperatures, consider upgrading to a boiler. This heating system uses steam or water to distribute heat evenly throughout your home, keeping you comfortable when it matters most.
Garage Heaters
If you love to spend time in your garage or workshop, working on projects, don’t put your tools away when the temperatures drop. Our garage heaters can keep you warm and snug, so you can enjoy your hobbies all year long.
Radiant Heating
If you enjoy stepping onto a warm floor when you wake up on a cold, winter morning, consider investing in radiant heating. This system directly heats the surfaces of your home, including your floors and walls, making you feel warm, snug, and cozy all season long.
Air Conditioning Repair & Install
You don’t have to suffer through hot Idaho summers. If your air conditioner is struggling to keep up or has broken down completely, you can trust us to repair or replace your system. We will keep your cool all season long.
Ductless Air Conditioner
A standard air conditioner may not keep your home cool enough for you to be comfortable. If you need something more, we can install a ductless air conditioner. This flexible option gives you more freedom over the temperature of certain spaces.
Air Purifier
Air pollutants may leave you with major respiratory problems. If smog and pollution have gotten into your home, a whole home air purification system is the perfect way to soothe your aching lungs.
Humidifier
Dry air can irritate your nose and affect your health and comfort. To add moisture to your home’s air and help you breathe easier, we can add a humidifier to your HVAC system.
Tankless Water Heaters
If your water heater struggles to keep up or you want a quicker, more efficient system, consider investing in a tankless water heater. This system eliminates the need for a bulky tank and provides on-demand hot water.
Soft Water Conditioner
Hard water may leave your hair, skin, and home appliances looking and feeling a little dull. With our soft water conditioners, you can remove these harsh minerals and protect your body and home.
Gas Fireplace
Your furnace works hard all winter long to keep you warm. If it struggles to keep up or you want to add extra warmth and coziness to your home, consider investing in a gas fireplace. We can install a new unit or repair your current system.
Gas Fireplace Inserts
If you’re tired of collecting firewood or taking care of a wood-burning fireplace, we can replace it with a gas insert. This unit sits in the opening of your existing fireplace and provides efficient heat with the touch of a button.
Gas Stoves
If you don’t have the room to support a fireplace, our team also provides gas stove installation. These smaller devices are a great, compact way to keep your Idaho Falls space warm through winter.

-
How do I know if my HVAC system needs repairs?
Common warning signs include unusual noises, inconsistent temperatures, weak airflow, rising energy bills, frequent cycling, and a system that struggles to maintain your desired temperature. Scheduling a professional inspection can help identify the problem before it becomes more serious.
-
What is the difference between a heat pump and a furnace?
A furnace generates heat using electricity or fuel such as natural gas, while a heat pump transfers heat from one location to another. Heat pumps provide both heating and cooling, while a furnace is typically paired with a separate air conditioner for year-round comfort.
-
Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling my home?
Possible causes include a dirty air filter, a blocked outdoor unit, incorrect thermostat settings, refrigerant problems, or a failing component. Check the thermostat and filter first. If the system continues to struggle, schedule professional service.
-
When should I call for emergency HVAC service?
Seek prompt professional assistance if your system stops working during extreme temperatures and creates a safety concern, if you notice a gas odor, or if you suspect an electrical hazard. For a suspected carbon monoxide leak, leave immediately and call emergency services from outside.
-
How often should I schedule HVAC maintenance?
Most homes benefit from professional HVAC maintenance at least once a year for each major system. Schedule heating maintenance before winter and cooling maintenance before summer to help prepare your equipment for seasonal demands.
-
Why is my furnace blowing cold air?
A furnace may blow cold air because it is still starting up, the thermostat settings are incorrect, the air filter is clogged, or the system has a malfunctioning component. If the problem continues, turn off the equipment if necessary and contact an HVAC professional.
