Tetonia, Idaho, is a small rural town in Teton County. It is located 50 miles northeast of Idaho Falls and is considered the “Gateway to the Tetons.” Local residents are dedicated to maintaining a family-friendly atmosphere and preserving the local Tenton Valley scenery. Packsaddle Lake sits just 26 miles south of Tetonia. This high-alpine lake, located in the Big Hole Mountains, is famous for its vibrant blue-green waters, rope swing, and panoramic views of the Teton Range. Many people visit to fish for trout, go wading or swimming, and go camping. Sometimes you can drive your car to the trailhead and hike the short distance to the lake, but other times, you need to park in the lower parking lot and hike in (about 5 miles out and back). 

The Ashton-Tetonia Trail is a 30-mile trail that follows an old Union Pacific railroad bed. In the summer, people use it for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, or running, and in the winter, it is open for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat-tire biking.
